Collection Profile for: Delaware State University, Claude E. Phillips Herbarium (DOV)
The Claude E. Phillips Herbarium (DOV) at Delaware State University is the only public herbarium on the Delmarva Peninsula (USA) and houses over 200,000 specimens of vascular plants, bryophytes, lichens, fungi, and algae. DOV’s collections span more than 200 years of botanical exploration in Delmarva, the neighboring states, and other parts of the U.S. As a regional herbarium, DOV often surprises with its significant historical collection that is worldwide in scope. Ancillary collections of bark; botanical beads; cones, fruits and seeds; dried botanicals; fibers; fossils; potpourri ingredients; wood; and permanent slides augment DOV’s holdings.
