Collection Profile for:
Hardin-Simmons University Herbarium (HSU)

Update: HSU was transferred to BRIT on 4 November 2021 and is in the process of being accessioned into the BRIT Herbarium. The new BRIT barcode number will superseded the HSU barcode number, however both these catalog numbers will be represented in the Occurrence Record. Specimens will not be re-imaged with the BRIT barcode unless re-imaging is warranted for other reasons. Contact the BRIT Herbarium, herbarium@brit.org.

Founded in 1964, the Hardin-Simmons University Herbarium contains approximately 5,500 specimens, most of which are from Texas, and with a special emphasis on Taylor County. This herbarium collection was digitized with support from the National Science Foundation (Award #:1902078) through a collaboration between the Botanical Research Institute of Texas (BRIT contact: Tiana Rehman, trehman@brit.org) and Hardin Summons University Herbarium (HSU Curator, Rick Hammer).
